Tags - what weight that word has for us. How many of us first picture the messy scrawled marking defacing our suburbs.
Is this the turnaround that we need to make away from formal Library of Congress subject headings that are for 'those in the know' to an external tagging of items, informal and somewhat uncontrolled yet with a life and community of its own.
I'm inrtigued to see that libraries ar embracing tags to make their information more user-friendly'
I can't wait to spend some time on Del.icio.us with my favourite websites, looking to see what else there is that others have discovered.

RSS Feeds
Well achieved success at last!
Iv'e managed to verify my Bloglines account successfully after being thwarted by using another terminal that would only verify another account - not mine. Am now on home turf and all's well with my world

Web 2.0 and libraries.
There's no doubt that the old brigade of librarians will have to step out of their comfort zones.
Rick Anderson's (University of Nevada, Reno Libraries) view of the future seems perfectly logical (and exciting) - there's no use sticking your head in the sand and hoping this will all pass you by - it won't.
Here's Rick on Web 2.0:
We need to focus our efforts not on teaching research skills but on eliminating the barriers that exist between patrons and the information they need, so they can spend as little time as possible wrestling with lousy search interfaces and as much time as possible actually reading and learning..

Even my little exploration thus far is charged with possiblities.

Blog in a fog - just who am I?
At the moment I feel as though I am working my way through a fog - arms out ahead, feeling my way through. As yet I'm to subscribe to RSS feeds - I really would prefer to do this from my home base. At the moment I feel like a split personality juggling the various facets of my life.
The frustration of the inabilty to validate Bloglines is thickening the fog

Mix up in cyberspace
Not too sure how I've got here - but no doubt here I am. It's been quite difficult moving forward as every time I sit down for a session I get interrupted. Today, when I checked my email and tried to validate Bloglines I got a welcome message for one of the other participants - is this because I'm using another terminal? Can only really sort thisout once I get back to home base.

Technology
I just love My Sky - I love being able to scroll back and replay time and time again (as long as the programme has been running for a while :-) - BUT why can't this be done with radio broadcasts? How often do you wait for the weather report or to catch the name of some one talking and find out you've been distracted or drifted off into a reverie, and totally missed what you'd been hanging around for. Just think of going back and making sure that you really heard the last off- the- cuff statement. Well, perhaps this technology might just be like the curate's egg!
Oh, I know that you can search for the podcast later but I want to direct the remote at the dial and whizz back then and there.

Flicking thru Flickr
Checking out the mosaic maker on Flickr: http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/mosaic.php
Think I'll have a go at this, well I'm well intentioned about having a go at it.
The other tool that fascinates me is making the cube: http://bighugelabs.com/flickr/cube.php
so i've tucked this away for further exploration.
